Championing Housing that Promotes Health
We know that where we live is associated with our health and overall quality of life. Unfortunately, too many people live in homes and neighborhoods that don’t support their health and well-being. In underserved communities, essential resources such as safe playgrounds, well-lit recreation spaces, or supermarkets with nutritious foods can be hard to find. As a result, it is no surprise that chronic diseases disproportionately affect these very same communities.
To address these disparities, CfAD is working with Fannie Mae to support the Healthy Housing Rewards™ program, which incentivizes the development of multifamily affordable housing that promotes health. Through the program’s Healthy Design pathway, borrowers can receive a 15 basis point interest rate discount by attaining certification through Fitwel, the world’s leading certification system committed to building health for all.
