Championing children's health
We know that where we live often determines how healthy we are. Unfortunately, too many people live in homes and neighborhoods that inhibit health. In many low-income and minority communities, it is often difficult to find resources such as safe playgrounds, well-lit recreation spaces, or supermarkets with nutritious foods. As a result, it is no surprise that chronic diseases disproportionately affect these very same communities.
Targeting communities with high health risks, we use Active Design as a tool to promote health in affordable housing. By taking an evidence-based approach, we ensure that implementing Active Design results in housing with measurable health benefits among residents.
